"Medical costs are the tapeworm of American economic competitiveness"
Warren Buffet
Businesses are a key component in our healthcare system. With employer-based insurance, health insurance companies expect businesses to pay hefty fees for "high quality" individual policies, allowing them to make record profits while also exploiting individuals by reducing access to care, creating high deductibles/ co-pays, and out-of-pocket limits. Costs for healthcare are becoming unsustainable, with many businesses projecting that they will no longer be able to afford healthcare in the next 5-10 years.
A single payer healthcare system would properly reallocate funds to ensure that all employees are given comprehensive care without any hidden fees. Businesses would be charged a fixed rate, preventing third parties from increasing costs at disproportionate rates year after year. No longer would employees be at risk of going into medical debt or fearing for their lives due to lack of access to care.
