DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our state-wide strategy and working conference on July 18th from 10 am to 4 pm at Clark University in Worcester. \nBackground: The health care crisis in Massachusetts continues to deepen. Exorbitant insurance rates have soared by double digits\, the bankruptcy of Steward Hospitals has left minority and working class communities without access to hospitals\, stopping the ACA subsidy extensions has affected over 300\,000 residents\, and GIC eliminated weight loss drugs from plans of 400\,000 public employees and their dependents. \nOur path to single payer through the Massachusetts Health Care Trust is the only solution providing complete coverage to all Massachusetts residents and will save tens of billions of dollars for residents\, cities\, towns\, and the state. \nConference Schedule: The conference will consist of morning workshops and afternoon breakout sessions. \nWorkshops in the morning: \n\nCommunity organizing\, municipal & non-binding ballot questions. What have we learned?\nOur strategy calls for winning the Massachusetts Health Care Trust by either a state-wide binding ballot question or through the legislature. Where do we stand on each of these approaches?\nSharpening our messaging to fight for creation of the Massachusetts Health Care Trust – social media\, letters to the editor\, forums and more.\nBuilding the coalition in your town. How to meet and talk to potential allies in your town. Businesses\, unions\, community groups\, elected officials.\n\nBreak-out sessions by sector in the afternoon: \n\nCommunity organizers and municipal officials\nLabor and healthcare workers\nBusiness\nPhysicians and Practitioners\n\nWe hope you and your organization will join us as we collectively work to “up the ante” on our elected leaders to save our healthcare and enact Medicare for All in Massachusetts. \nRegistration Information: There is $50 registration fee\, but no one will be turned away.
