Mass-Care Endorses Mike Connolly for State Representative

Boston, MA – Today Mass-Care, the Commonwealth’s largest advocacy group devoted to single payer health care reform, announced its endorsement of Mike Connolly for State Representative for the 26th Middlesex District of Cambridge and Somerville. “This progressive district needs a progressive leader and we have found that in Mike Connolly,” said Ture Turnbull, Executive Director of Mass-Care. “Mr. Connolly is at the intersection of progressive values and thoughtful delivery, he will help lead the Commonwealth into the future.”

“I am honored to earn the endorsement of Mass-Care, and I look forward to working with other progressive legislators to make single-payer a reality for our Commonwealth,” Mike Connolly said. “Massachusetts has made many strides in health care, but we still face unacceptable gaps in coverage and unsustainable, out of control costs. A single-payer system is the only reliable way to manage costs and close gaps in coverage, especially in mental healthcare. As someone who was raised in public housing and spent time in foster care, I understand how important it is to ensure that everyone has access to quality, affordable healthcare, regardless of wealth or income. Working together, we can become the first state in the nation to implement single-payer, making Massachusetts an even healthier and more equitable place to live.”

Mike Connolly is running as a “Bernie” progressive, working to address the large inequalities we still face in the Commonwealth. His understanding of health and social justice are needed in the House of Representatives.

Mass-Care supports establishing a single payer health care system in Massachusetts as the most effective way to control costs. In a fast moving election cycle, it is very important to become involved now!
