Mass-Care Endorses Julian Cyr for State Senate

Boston, MA – Today Mass-Care, the Commonwealth’s largest advocacy group devoted to single payer health care reform, announced its endorsement of Julian Cyr for State Senate for Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. “Julian Cyr is the new independent leader the Commonwealth is looking for,” said Ture Turnbull, Executive Director of Mass-Care. “His continued leadership on the Cape and Islands, while at the Department of Public Health and as Chair of the GLBT Youth Commission is not only a benefit to the district but to the whole Commonwealth.”

“The longer I work in public health and health care, the more convinced I am that ‘health for profit’ makes no sense,” said Cyr. “In my region and across the state, we have many people who are either uncovered or inadequately-covered by the current for profit/sick care system. There is an urgent need for a better way in health care provision and Mass-Care is leading the way. I am honored to receive their endorsement.”

Julian Cyr is running to fill the vacancy from Senator Dan Wolf. As the Cape and Island as well as the Commonwealth has seen a crisis from our current health delivery system, it is paramount that our elected officials understand the issues and address them on day one of the 2017-18 legislative session, Mr. Cyr has the know-how to move us forward to true healthcare justice.

Mass-Care supports establishing a single payer health care system in Massachusetts as the most effective way to control costs. In a fast moving election cycle, it is very important to become involved now!
