Mass-Care Endorses Juana Matias for State Representative

Boston, MA – Today Mass-Care, the Commonwealth’s largest advocacy group devoted to single payer health care reform, announced its endorsement of Juana Matias for State Representative for the 16 Essex District, Lawrence. “Our broken healthcare system has a negative impact on everyone and Juana Matias speaks for all of us when she calls for progressive change in the Commonwealth,” said Ture Turnbull, Executive Director of Mass-Care. “We are delighted to welcome Juana into the Mass-Care family and look forward to her fighting for the residents of Lawrence and the entire Commonwealth.”

“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of Mass Care and I look forward to working to make single-payer health care a reality in our commonwealth. I firmly believe that health care should be a right and not a privilege. Massachusetts has made headways in health care, but we still face unacceptable gaps in coverage and unsound costs. As a daughter, who lost her father to pancreatic cancer, I encountered first hand the outrageous costs associated with medicine and treatment practices in our health care system. We need a system where all people can get the care they need regardless of income, age or socioeconomic status. We need a system that works for all of us.

Mass-Care supports establishing a single payer health care system in Massachusetts as the most effective way to control costs. In a fast moving election cycle, it is very important to become involved now!
